Outfit Post: floaty maxi skirt

Hey guys,

Just a quick post today to show you my new skirt, which I got for myself as a celebratory end of exams prezzy. I have been looking for an asymmetric maxi skirt for ages and when I saw this one in Urban Outfitters I knew I had to get it. It's one of those skirts that as soon as you put it on you just want to twirl and dance around your room in it. I paired it with a white t-shirt and some black wedge boots, I didn't want to detract away from the skirt too much so I tried to keep it simple.

Necklace - Urban Outfitters sale

Do you all like asymmetric maxi skirts? Or do you have another favourite type of maxi skirt?

Fun in the sun now that exams are overrrr!!!

Hey Guys,

So my EXAMS ARE OVER! I could not be happier! I decided with my first day of freedom I would go down to Hyde Park and make the most of the beautiful weather we are having. I also got out my short shorts to hopefully get my pale legs looking some what coloured, however, instead of looking beautifully golden I am now somewhere on the darker end of the lobster scale. Anyway here are a few pictures from my day and the outfit I was wearing, which consisted of river island shorts, topshop floaty vest top and converse trainers.

Top - Topshop (old)
Shorts - River Island
Trainers - Converse
Sunglasses - Marc by Marc Jacobs

The other half also got me to do a bit of tree climbing!

Accessories: ice lilac watch and Topshop assorted bracelets.

I also made a daisy chain which I managed to turn into a head piece :) oh and the sunglasses are Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Cooling off in Diana's fountain.

I hope you are all having a great week, I can't wait to spend many more days relaxing in the sun.

Wish List of the Week!

Hey everyone,

So I have three exams down and only one to go....I am counting the hours till Monday at precisely 1pm and then I am heading straight to a pub to get a well deserved cider (I'm a country girl you see so us folk like our ciders). I have to say it has been kind of depressing just staring at the sunshine from the desk in my room, I can feel myself getting paler by the minute and apparently the other day it was 29 degrees!

Anyway just a quick post today, thought I would show you some of the cheeky things that keep managing to distract me from revision. I can tell you once Monday arrives my credit isn't going to know what's hit it :)

Maxi sheer skirt - missselfridge
Grey T-shirt -  topshop
Cascade Necklace - missselfridge

What do you think? What do you have on your summer wishlist?

Nails: Paint Explosion!

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is well. I have one exam out of the way..yay but 3 more to go...boo! But I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel or as my old teacher used to say I'm at the final 100m sprint of the race.
So this is just a quick post, I basically wanted to show you what I did with my nails today. I suddenly had the cool idea of trying out something that I like to call a paint explosion! It turned out like this....

What do you guys think?

To create this look I used what is pictured below (from left to right: Barry M in strawberry, Barry M in mint green, Rimmel in black cab, Barry M in peach melba and Barry M in berry). Start with a black base colour and then slowly drip the different colours down the top of your nails, taking any excess off where necessary and vola you have a quick yet effective 'paint explosion' nail design. I think the colours symbolise our english weather perfectly at the moment, mainly dark and cloudy with a hint of colour and warmth.

So what are your favourite nails colours at the moment? Any favourite brands of nail polish?

New Brand: Abide

Hey guys,

Well it's all work work work and no play for me at the moment, cannot wait to get my life back. I have been trying to join a gym as well this week but with no success as all the good gyms in London are around £80 a month! So I am making do with youtube yoga videos and I might even try running outside since the sun has finally decided to show its face.

Anyway, a couple of days a go a new brand was brought to my attention, it's called Abide, it's a British brand which is handmade in Devon, so it is quintessentially British. It is inspired by the British countryside and seaside, which I love being a little country bumkin myself. The website has only just launched (www.abideclothing.co.uk) and I have been having a little mooch about and I have to say their clothes are gorgeous!

Here are a few of my favourites...

Pictures from Abide

Abide's new collection has a very laid back feel, that is ideal for basics, work and evening wear, The colour palette is washed and chalky with a few parts of added colour and the fabrics are so delicate with the use of precious silks, linens and fine jersey. I think it is the perfect collection for those long summer evenings walking through fields full of wild flowers...think I am slowly getting lost in my own imagination. But honestly I think this brand screams elegance, femininity and beauty. I know it is a little pricey but I would definitely pay that much for the quality and attention to detail you get from having a garment that is handmade! So check out their website and see what you think www.abideclothing.co.uk :)

Hope you all had a lovely evening.

RIP to the girl you used to see...

Hey guys,

What miserable weather we are having at the moment, I wanted to be really inventive with my photos outside today but instead I am stuck inside having to make the most of the stairs outside of my bedroom. So apologies for the lack of creativity.

I received another wonderful package yesterday from susietuesday boutique, I can't get enough of their vintage items at the moment, they really do have some great stuff. This time I decided to pick a brown 60's shirt and a black sheer blouse as I thought they were both so versatile and could be paired with almost anything. So what do you guys think...

60's shirt - Vintage -susietuesday
Shorts - RiverIsland
Hoody - Topshop
Necklace - Topshop
Converse

Sheer blous - Vintage - susietuesday
Shorts - RiverIsland
Wedge trainers - Ash

Bracelets - Topshop
Watch - present
Ring - Topshop
Hope you guys are having a good week, my blog may get a bit quieter soon as my exams start on Tuesday..eekk! Slightly scared but just can't wait to have them over with.

Aztec inspired nails

Hey guys,

So guess what....I have actually some how managed to DELETE ALL OF MY COMMENTS!! I cannot believe it, all of your nice words have vanished. Oh well I guess I live and learn from my mistakes.

Anyway continuing on with the post, I recently purchased some models own nail art pens a couple of days ago and I have been waiting to try them out. I felt my nail varnish was getting a bit boring so I thought I would try out something a bit more experimental and because I love Aztec print so much, I thought I would try and put it on my nails. So here goes nothing....

What do you guys think?? Kind of a work in progress but I was pretty pleased for my first attempt.

This is what I used to create the look:

Nail Art Pen - Models Own
Nail Varnish - Barry M Peach Melba

And here is where I got my inspiration from:

Sorry again for the comment deleting incident I will promise to be more careful next time :).

Hope you all had a great bank holiday!

Mere La Mode Fashion Party / Outfit Post

Hey guys!

So a couple of weeks ago I was invited to a 'MereLaMode' fashion party, which my Mum held at our house and it was hosted by her lovely friend Julia who was showing us all the new 'captaintortue' range. I have to say I loved the experience, it was like having your own personal shopper in your living room and let's not forget to mention you got to eat and drink wine as you shopped...definitely an added bonus! It's like a  new way of shopping - in your seat instead of on your feet!

So basically the whole idea of this party is that it is hosted at either you or a friends house and you get to see, feel and try the clothes in the comfort of a warm house, this saves you the hassle of having to bother with dingy changing rooms or queuing for ages to pay for your item (there is always someone who can't use the card reader). So all in all it is definitely a win win situation.

I have to say the clothes were beautiful and I think the pictures below speak for themselves. The clothing is a stylish french collection that is 60% owned by Louis Vuitton and the range is made up of Lady Tortue and Miss Tortue. I chose this laid back grey t-shirt dress, that has a draw string just below the waist, helping to define what little curves I have. I styled it up with a vintage scarf, some old working boots and a belt, as I wanted to give the girly dress a slightly harder edge. So what do you guys think??

Dress - captaintortue specifically from MereLaMode hostess
Scarf - Vintage
Boots - River Island
Belt - Asos

I think I am definitely becoming a bit of a poser...oops!

But if any of you guys would like to find out were the nearest Captain Tortue hostess is to you feel free to browse the website http://www.captaintortuegroup.com/en-gb/our_collections.html and I would love if you could all check out Julia's facebook page and give it a like http://www.facebook.com/MereLaMode. And also before I forget if you hold a party, you get a discount! How great is that...so definitely check it out!

Hope you are all having a great weekend, speak soon!

Print obsession....I think so!

Hey guys,

Well I had a great weekend in Cardiff, I was persuaded to watch the Avengers in 3D by the boyfriend and I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it was going to be one of those really boyish films (you know the geeky comic superhero kind) but it turned out to be really good. Sadly it had to end and now I'm back in London stuck in the flat revising morning till night (it's such an exciting life I lead). But I couldn't keep myself away from my blog and I have been dying to show you all my new top from urban outfitters, I had my eye on a similar MinkPink one but I managed to find this instead and they are almost identical except this one is half the price! So what's not to love! I decided to pair it with my black skater skirt from Topshop and some black suede wedge boots (thankfully it has finally been sunny enough for me to wear them). So what do you all think?

Top - Urbanoutfitter
Skirt - Topshop
Earring - River Island
Necklace - Topshop

Necklace - Topshop
Quick close up of the fabric, I love the vibrancy of the colours and they even managed to squeeze in some paisley patterns, so I am definitely bang on trend :).

Oh and I have come the conclusion that at the moment I cannot get enough of printed fabrics, I have counted atleast 20 items in my wardrobe that are printed and now I have another one to add to my collection. I'm wondering whether it is now verging on obsession?!?
