My Life Savers

Hello everyone...

So this week I wanted to try something different and show you all a bit more about me and how I style myself. I thought a fun way to do this would be by doing a post on my Top 5 Life Saver beauty products. These are some of the products that make me look a least a little bit respectable before I leave the house. (Who knows if you guys like it it might become a regular thing)

Here is a run through of my Top 5:

1. Johnson's Baby Lotion for me is definitely the best and most versatile moisturiser out there. My Mum swears by it and even says that she thinks it's the reason her skin has stayed so youthful, if anything this comment has made me plaster the stuff on because when I hit her age I want to look that damn good. But seriously this stuff is great, I use it on my face, hands and body and it has always given me long lasting moisture.

2. I started using Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation about a year ago when I found so many positive reviews circulating the blogosphere. I have always suffered from break outs and so for me I was instantly attracted to the use of natural ingredients such as apricot extract because the more natural the better for my skin. Anyway, after about a month of using it I really started to notice that my skin was clearing up and that I didn't need to cake my face in as much foundation anymore to hide my break outs. The foundation also left me with a healthy looking glow which I loved because it made my skin look slightly more alive for those dreaded 9am lectures!

3. Got2b Powderful was actually introduced to me by one of my local hairdressers, she was surprisingly nice and recommended a cheap brand I could buy from Boots rather than one of their own really expensive brands. I have to say this volumising powder has transformed my life. I have always longed for big and full hair, especially for nights out and this powder does exactly that. You just scrunch it in at the roots and it gives the illusion of back combing but without the damage that backcombing can do to your hair.

4. I am a massive fan of nail art, after studying art at school and college I am a keen fan of expressing your creativity and what better way than on your nails for the whole world to see. For anyone who wants to create some really detailed nail art the Models Own nail art pens are a must.

5. I purchased the Kick Ass Concealer by Soap & Glory a couple of months a go and I have to say I haven't as of yet found a better concealer, especially for those pesky bags under your eyes! It has 3 steps to it, there are two different soft cream concealers which work together to hide redness and dark circles and then there is a powder to set it all into place. I cannot rave about this product anymore, it really is 'Kick Ass' it hides dark circles, blemishes and redness and it holds for most of the day, it is very rare that I have to reapply.

What do you think to my Top 5 Life Savers? Is there anything you would add to this list?

Big Love For Big Knits

Hi everyone...

Boots - Office

So the temperature has been dropping day by day here, I'm sure it even it the minus' at one point! And what I have learnt from this weather is that a big knit is your new best friend. In addition to giving you that extra layer of warmth they are also the coziest things in the world to wear. At the moment I have been wearing mine over dresses (such as the outfit above) and shirts, as well as tucking then into skirts and my beloved disco pants, they are the ultimate piece of versatility in your wardrobe.

As I am writing this my flatmates and I are preparing for a birthday house party (the oldy of our group has just turned 22 today) and so I should probably move away from the computer start glaming myself up abit, although been as it's our flat I'm sure I can get away with keeping my slippers on :)

Hope you are all having a fab weekend...

Firmoo Review

Hey Guys...

Sorry about the lack of posts but I have been busy trying to sort out some form of employment for when I graduate, so this week I have been busy with applications and interviews. (Some interview outfit posts to come) Anyway on with my orginal post.

I was contacted a few weeks a go by Firmoo, an online shop for glasses & sunglasses, the range is great and I love the shape of a lot of the frames. Here are the frames I chose to review...

And if being great value is not enough for you, you can also join the First Pair Free Programme where you only have to pay for shipping, can you really get any better value for money than that! (http://www.firmoo.com/free-glasses.html)

So check them out, you won't be disappointed :)

Winter Wishlist

Hey everyone...

Hope you are all having a fun build up to Christmas, yes I know we still have a way to go but being back home and sitting by the fire has made me all christmassy. So what better way to get in the jolly spirit than to come up with an amazing must have Christmas wish list (hint hint... family :) )

Brrrrr....!

The temperature seems to be dropping by the day, which only means one thing...LAYERS (and lots of them!). The outfit below is perfect for keeping you snuggly warm, the knitted jumper is the softest thing ever and you can even put a leather jacket under the faux fur jacket for an extra layer. I then finished off the look with some thick black leggings and wedge boots.

Also, slight cringe I just noticed that everything in this outfit besides the boots is from Topshop..oopsss!

So what do you guys think to the look? Are you having to start piling on the layers?

Everthing Topshop except boots which are Office.

Along with my slightly rock star get up I also accessorized with this awesome pair of vintage inspired chess piece earrings which one of my dear friends got me for my 21st.

It's electrifying!

Hey Guys...

Just a quick post today as I'm feeling pretty tired from my eventful Halloween night and then a full day of lectures! So due to my lack of sleep I decided that it would be much more productive to paint my nails. So here is my quick and simple design...

This design was created using Models Own 'Mystic Mauve' for the base and then to do the lightning bolt on the one finger I used Models Own black nail art pen. I have to say I love how metallic and shiny the base coat colour is,this picture doesn't really do it justice (again I apologise for poor lighting) but in person it's a stunning colour.

And just in case you wanted to see what me and my flat mate went as for Halloween, here is a sneaky peek...(bet you can't guess who I am ;) )

I hope you all had a fun filled spooky night :)

Inner Rock Star!

So today I decided to channel my inner rock star...

I have been searching for ages for the perfect top to cover my extremely cool tie-dye leggings (I'm one of those people that can't have my bum showing whilst wearing leggings, not even if I'm 100% sure they aren't see through). I stumbled across this gem of a piece in Topshop, the top is quirky enough (with the cut out detail) to compliment my leggings but also simple enough not to 'out do' them.

I paired the outfit with my favourite boots of the moment from Office, they have literally not left my feet since buying them last weekend (comfy is an understatement!). And for accessories I decided to wear my chunky silver necklace and bracelet, as well as another cool new ring from my online store kilajewel.com.

Top - Topshop
Leggings - Topshop
Boots - Office
Necklace - River Island
Bracelet - Market from Italy
Ring - kilajewel.com

Do you guys ever feel the urge to channel your inner rock star? (Or maybe it's just me and I'm slightly weird :S)

Slouchy Tuesday

So we all know the feeling, it's cold, wet and miserable and to be quick frank you really can't be arsed making much of an effort with your wardrobe choices. Well that was me this morning! However, instead of slipping on a very boring jumper I was saved from going to fashion hell by the magical item known as a 't-shirt dress'. I'm guessing most of you were expecting something a bit more exciting, however, I do believe that t-shirt dresses are amazing. They are so comfy and yet still look ultra cool.

This particular t-shirt dress was from Urban Outfitters and it has been sitting in my wardrobe (unworn) for over a year. Well not anymore. It is perfect with a pair of thick tights, boots and a nice chunky scarf, to be honest I would sleep in it if I could, I just can't believe it has taken me this long to wear it!

Are any of you a fan of t-shirt dress? If not what do you like to wear on those 'I really can't be arsed' days?

P.S. I apologise for the poor quality of the photos, I hate having to blog at uni as the lighting is so poor in our flat. Hopefully it stops raining soon so I can go outside.

KilaJewel Top Picks!

Just a quickie to let you all in on the 'Top Picks' at KilaJewel.

As a fellow fashionista I understand that winter can be a challenging time in terms of outfit choices. It's always hard to show your individualism and quirkiness whilst layering yourself with coats and scarfs etc...that's why I believe now is the perfect time to be jazzing up our winter wardrobe with a little bit of bling. How about showing off your unique sense of style through your jewellery choices? Just because we have to cover our outfit with a coat doesn't mean we can't show off some rocking arm and hand candy...am I right or am I right?

So check out these great picks from kilajewel.com

Style Birmingham: Press Event Fashion Show

Hey everyone...

This weekend gone I got to attend the Style Birmingham Fashion Show thanks to my boyfriends sister. It was incredible! I got to see various retail brands key pieces from their A/W 12 collections while at the same time sipping on some Harvey Nichols champagne (not a bad life really). The fashion show was hosted by Martine McCutcheon and it featured appearances from  celebrity stylist Bradley Taylor and Olympic gold medalist Greg Rutherford who strutted his stuff for the Harvey Nichols collection.

The scenes of the fashion show included:
Hide and Chic (Harvey Nichols)
Geo-Graphic, Country Days and City Nights (House of Fraser)
Very Berry, Heritage (M&S)
Drama & Decadence (The Mailbox)
 Japanese Oriental Florals (Bullring)
Futuristic Glamour (Selfridges) - My personal favourite

Some of the key looks I took away from the show included mixing geometric patterns, faux fur jackets and winter florals. All of which I  am a massive fan of, so I am definitely looking forward to forming my winter wardrobe.

Here are a few pictures from the event...

The last picture is of my Mum and Me before the event (all glammed up) and I apologise for my freaky eyes, the lighting in the hotel wasn't ideal.

What are your favourite key pieces for the summer?

New online jewellery shop 'KilaJewel'

Hello everyone...

I am pleased to announce that after a lot of hard work over the summer my very own online jewellery store 'KilaJewel' is now up and running!

I have always had a love/obsession with jewellery, especially unique pieces that can give any outfit that little extra pizazz and now I am thrilled to be able to offer to you my lovely followers and the general public a chance to be able to purchase such quirky pieces. And of course they are all available at very affordable prices, I know how hard it is being an avid fashion follower but also being a student, so all of my pieces won't break the bank.

He was a skater boy...she said see you later boy...

Hello...

So today I wanted to show you all some of my birthday prezzies. Off my lovely boyfriend I received a pair of american apparel disco pants, I have been lusting after these for so long and it is definitely true that they suck you in. I also got these amazing studded black high tops, which I adore! My boyfriend definitely gets extra brownie points for these gifts.

I decided to go for a slightly edgy skater look today. Believe it or not I was actually a little skater girl around the age of 14, I would walk around in a pair of DC's and baggy jeans with zips all the way up to my hip and yes I actually thought I was the bomb! Thankfully this look is a little less baggy and slightly more toned down. To create this laid back look I paired my disco pants with a black vest and then layered over it a cut out checkered shirt. This outfit is perfect for a chilled out day as every item of clothing in this look is so comfortable.

What do you all think?

Vest  - Topshop

Maxi Madness

Hello again,

Sorry I have been so absent from posting, it has been crazy lately! Firstly, I celebrated my 21st last week which I managed to spread out over a few days, I had a pamper day full of fish pedicures and manicures on my actual birthday, then at the weekend I had an awesome party with friends and family. It was safe to say we all go a little bit drunk and we are still trying to finish off the cake!

Then after a hectic birthday weekend I ended up in Bath and Cardiff for a little bit of birthday money shopping and a night out with friends. Pictured below is one of my purchases, I am so  into maxis at the moment, I guess a little bit late as we are now heading into winter, however, I reckon I can rock it with a scarf, big knit and leather jacket. For todays outfit I decided to pair it with a black knitted sweater with studded shoulders and some black chelsea boots.

The outfit

Jumper - Warehouse
Skirt - UO
Hat - Dads
Boots - Topshop

The accessories

Necklace - Birthday gift

Middle ring - Italian market
thumb ring - Italian Shop

Are any of you as mad for maxi's as I am at the moment? What do you like pairing them with?

I said a Hip Hop...

Hello again...

So this was the dress I decided to wear the other night for a friends 21st, unfortunately I had had an awful cold that week and so my dress only managed to see an hour or so of the party. I ended up being asleep by 10, I couldn't even manage to stay awake for Celebrity juice...now that is saying something! I decided I needed to save all my energy for my Birthday this week and thankfully I think that early night has helped a lot.

Anyway, enough of my little sob story and on to the dress. Basically this dress is my stepping stone to finally braving a crop top. I can just about deal with the cut out sides but putting aside my lack of self confidence I LOVE this dress. I think it's so funky and hip. I thought I would follow the funky theme by pairing it with my wedged trainers, which I have to say are the comfiest shoes in the world. I reckon I could actually do a hike in them they are that comfy!

The Outfit

Dress - Urban Outfitters
Shoes - Ash

The Accessories

Centre ring - From Italy
Thumb Ring - Italian Market

Ear cuff - Topshop

The Footwear

Trainers - Ash

Hope you all had a lovely and more eventful weekend than me, hopefully if I curl up in bed long enough my cold will vanish before my birthday on Thursday...fingers crossed.

Motel Rocks my Socks!

Hey everyone...

So recently I have been trailing around sites trying to find the perfect 21st Birthday dress for my party next weekend. I keep thinking it has to be something really amazing because I only turn 21 once right and you have to do it in style.

I wasn't impressed by many things until I came across Motel Rocks and their awesome new collection. I actually ended up wanting more than just a dress once I started looking, they have some amazing crop tops and playsuits that I am definitely going to be spending my birthday money on!

So I thought I would share with you all my finds because I thought they were all too good to keep to myself...

I think this is perfect for a night out with an arm cuff or you could pair it with a denim jacket and converse for the day.

I absolutely love anything off the shoulder as they are always so flattering. I think this top would be perfect with some high waisted denim shorts.

Now I have seen this dress on a lot of blogs but it still doesn't stop me from loving it. The print is gorgeous, I have always had a slightly grungy style and I think this gothic print is perfect!

Anyway this is just a few of the many wonderful things you can find on motel and I have recently just joined the Motel Rocks street team so I will definitely be using my 20% code. You guys can also get 20% off just use...
